For clients who are looking to buy a home in Lakeview up to Dixie, or just in the West End of the city, we let them know that there is a tremendous amount of development happening here.
Development and Choice
Local associations have pushed for zoning allowances and are currently redefining the nature of this neighbourhood. So far the focus has been on small, lofty and artsy residences.
The area has a protected or secluded feel to it inasmuch as it is not serviced by the TTC or GO transit. It does have easy access to the Gardiner Expressway and in our experience some people find the idea of a pocket community quite appealing.
The area has terrific schools, including the Toronto French School for French immersion
Cawthra Park, which is well recognized for the Arts.
The area features 25 - 30’ lots with Wartime homes and Early 1900’s builds with no basements. Buyers can expect to find better price points here than in other areas which is appealing if you are just entering the housing market. From this point of view Port Credit to the West is almost inaccessible and Mimico to the East is trending upwards. Looking at Lakeview, it would be fair to predict that values here are due to trend upwards soon.
